Our Weekend- A Date Night!!!

We had a pretty great weekend!  Nothing big but it was still great!

Friday night my parents kept J overnight, so we could have a date night.  It's been a little over a month since our last date, so it was so nice!!!  It also helps that I am feeling so much better.  The last couple of date nights my parents have given us I was still in that sickly pregnancy stage, so we didn't do much.  Just sat around the house and ordered pizza.  Nothing wrong with that, but it was nice to feel good enough to go out and have a real dinner out kind of a date.

Aaron suggested we go to OlenJack's.  We haven't been to dinner there in FOREVER.  In fact, we probably haven't had dinner there since before we had J.  I honestly forget about that place, and I always wonder why.  Because seriously, it's some of the best food around!!!

Besides having an actual conversation with Aaron, we decided the best part of the date was the dessert.  Oh my!!! We got the Chocolate Meringue Butterscotch Cream pie.  Wow!!! Was it good!  I mean how can a graham cracker crust butterscotch cream filling topped with chocolate meringue not be good!!!  To make it even better there were these big homemade Heath bar chunks surrounding the pie.  Heavenly is all I have to say.  And maybe I should get my own piece next time!!!

We are such party animals!!!  We were in bed by 10:45, and I slept until 8:15 the next morning, which was so fabulous!!!

And then, we decided to tackle our office/man cave/junk room.  Well, we didn't exactly tackle the room.  I just decided we should move the bookcase with all the books into our room.  I figure if we do it little by little we will soon have it all cleared out and ready for the new baby.

We went and got J from my parents around 2 pm, and then just lounged for the rest of the day.

Sunday was the usual morning Bible class and worship service.  Lunch. And then, we met for our second small group of the year in the evening.  Plus, the Cowboys won!!!  I know Aaron was super psyched and in a good mood about that!  And then, to add an extra layer of goodness, it decided to be fall this weekend.  It was nice to pull out a long sleeve tee and a scarf.

Hope your weekend was wonderful, too!!!

Date Night + Baby Shower = Busy Weekend

We had a great weekend!!!

Friday night we celebrated our anniversary with sushi and frozen yogurt.

Saturday we slept a little later than usual because J was at my parents.  After working in the garage a little bit, we met up with my parents for lunch and to get J.
Then, my mom and I were off to decorate for the Audrey's baby shower the next day.  Plans went awry because someone else was using the fellowship hall for a birthday party. We decided to make the most of it , so I came home to cut lots of crepe paper into 7 foot strips.  Why? Because it takes a lot of crepe paper to create this--

We headed back up to the church at 6:30 (after the birthday party) with tons of crepe paper streamers and blown up balloons.  You wouldn't realize it, but it took 2 hours to make the corner look like that.  That's a lot of crepe paper!!!  We headed home at 8:30, which was actually 9:30 because of Daylights Saving Time.

Then, we spent our Sunday afternoon hosting the church baby shower for Audrey, Aaron's cousin.  It was a great shower!!!  Baby Lugo got some great stuff!!!  I am so excited to see if it will be a boy or girl.

My eyes were closed.  Ooops!!!

To end our Sunday, we got Jimmy John's subs, ate outside, and went on a walk.  Not a bad way to end a weekend!!!

Especially when you get to spend time with this little cutie!!!

Hodgepodge of Happenings

Hey Ya'll!!!
I just realized I haven't been keeping up with our latest happenings, so today you are getting a bunch of randomness.

1.  A couple of Fridays ago, I took J to The Little Gym.  I have been wanting to take him to one of their classes for a while.  We didn't have a lot to lose because the first time you go is free.  J had a lot of fun.  If it weren't so pricey, I would be more likely to sign him up, but I am on the fence.  Plus, you have to pick one class you want to go to every week.  That's hard with my work schedule constantly changing and all of J's therapy appointments.  I think we might sign up eventually, just not right now.

2.  After Little Gym, we went to the car wash for the first time in FOREVER.  I love J's reaction in this next picture.

Then, we came home and ate Christmas mini M&M's we found in the pantry.
And later on that night- I came into the living room and found this!!! Boys will be boys!!!
3.  The next day I felt icky all day.  I didn't have a lot of energy, and I didn't eat a thing all day.  I sat on the couch the majority of the day, which is so unlike me.  It was nice to just chill and watch Notting Hill and Lifetime Movies all day.  Can I say I love a silly Lifetime Movie?
4.  Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is J's newest favorite thing.  They have free shows on InDemand.  We usually watch an episode every day with him .  He LOVES the first 3 or 4 minutes when the crew is singing and dancing, and then the last 2 or 3 minutes when they are singing and dancing "Hotdog."
5.  Aaron had MLK day off, so we went to the mall to do some more Christmas returns. We went to Northeast mall and had lunch in the food court.  There is an amazing little cupcake stand.  That of course, we had to try.  I got the flavor, red velvet volcano.  AMAZING!!!
6.  My mom has been wanting to get us a new light for our breakfast room.  She ordered one before Christmas, and she finally had it installed on MLK day.  I just love it!!!  It really makes the space look more modern.  It definitely fits our style so much better than the last light.

7.  I made this strawberry shortcake for Aaron for his birthday.  It's the easiest recipe.  I have made it countless times, and it's always delicious.

8.  This past Friday night Aaron and I celebrated his birthday by going out to dinner.  We went to Cacharel for the first time.  What a little gem in Arlington!!! It is seriously the best food I have had in the longest time.  It's pricey, but the food is high quality and so delicious.  It's also quiet and peaceful, which is hard to find in a restaurant anymore.
Cream of Asparagus
Pecan crusted chicken
Chocolate lava cake with Grand Marnier cream sauce
Phyllo dough with white chocolate mouse layers

A big thanks to my mom for watching J overnight by herself, so we could have an evening to ourselves!!!

Well, we are now kind of caught up!

We finally did it!!!

Yes.  That is correct.  We have now entered the world of smart phones.  An IPhone 4s to be exact.  After much thought and number crunching, we got rid of our ordinary cell phone for a snazzy one.  And I must say it's AMAZING!!!  I love the camera and don't get me started on Instagram.  I've seen other people's Instagram pics on Facebook, but I never really got it.  Can I say it's SUPER cool!!! Plus, ICloud!!! I now have ICloud on my PC, so I can just open up my photo stream, save it to my folders on my desktop, and I'm done.  No camera cords!!! Seriously, it's genius!!!

That's our big news for the weekend.  We got IPhones!!!

On Friday night, my parents watched J overnight, so Aaron and I could have an evening to ourselves.  Aaron really wanted to see the movie, Gravity, with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.  We went to Studio Movie Grill and watched the movie and ate.  The movie did not disappoint. It was amazing!  I think Sandra Bullock deserves an Oscar for this.  On Saturday morning, we got our IPhones.  Spending an hour and a half in the AT&T store would not have been J friendly, so we chose to take care of that without him.  We had every intention to come home and clean out the garage, but that didn't happen.  By the time we finished up with our IPhone purchase, it was 11:30 and not really enough time to tackle that project.  After we got J, we kind of played on our IPhones during his nap and lounged around the house.  I also made a batch of pumpkin bread that was delicious!!!

Another newsworthy development is that it appears fall has finally arrived in Texas.  Saturday morning it turned chilly, and it's been wonderful.  I actually wore my boots to church this morning.  Might have been overkill, but you gotta take it while you can around these parts.

Sunday lunch with my boys.

This afternoon we went to the Cowboys game with my parents.  It was a fun game.  If you ask Aaron, you will get a different story because we lost!

Then, we went back over to Meema and PopPop's to pick up J, and I took a few other pics of my little man.  Isn't he the cutest?

 Cherry pie!!!
 Look at that face!!!

Can I just say that this kid is killing me in the food department!!!  He has gotten so picky!  Even foods he usually loves,  he will turn his nose up to.  It makes it very frustrating when making dinner!!!

So that's our weekend in a nutshell!!! The weekend of the IPhone!!!

Lately...

Unfortunately, like I predicted, the blogging has been put on a back burner.  School is back in full swing, and I am not finding as much time as I did this summer.
I started back to work 2 weeks ago, and have been going, going, and going.  This part-time mama that normally works 50% of the time (or so my contract says) has worked about 80%.  Can you say exhausted?  I am not used to being away from my boy so much.  The first week back was professional development week, so I was doing counselor training from 8 am to 4 pm five days in a row.  Talk about shock!!!  I went from seeing my boy all day every day for 7 straight weeks to seeing him from 4:30 to 7:30 every evening.  It was hard on this mama!!!
I know once we get back in school my time should go more back to normal.  I just consider these pre-weeks a way for me to donate some extra time to get the job done well.  I am super thankful for a mom and mother-in-law that are so willing to pick up the extra slack as I work more.  I am also thankful Aaron has been off the last 2 weeks to spend lots of time with J.  They are definitely bonding which is really good.  I hate the circumstances why Aaron is not working, but nonetheless the timing is pretty good for me with school back in full swing.

Today was a great day!  The weather has been amazing here in Texas the last few days.  Can't believe it has only been in the high 80's/low 90's.  It's been a wonderful break.  We went for a walk this morning, and when I first stepped outside in shorts and a tank top, I was almost a bit cool.  Totally weird for August 17!!!
We really spent the day just hanging out as a fam not doing much of anything.  My mom called this morning to offer to keep J for us, so we could go to a movie and dinner.  So around 3:30, Aaron and I headed to see-

WOW!!!  Such a great movie!!!  If Oprah doesn't get an Oscar nom for this role, I think the Academy is nuts!  This is definitely worth going to see.  It's EXCELLENT!  For non-Obama people, you will really like it until the last 10 minutes when it goes a little over the top on the love for Obama.  It was so all about Obama I truly thought President Obama was going to make a cameo himself.  It seemed a little far fetched, but of all of our presidents he's the most Hollywood, so I didn't think it was out of the realm.

After the movie, we headed to Mijo's for a quick bite before getting J from RaRa's to take him and put him to bed.

The only I pic I got this week, and it happens to not be of J.  How crazy is that!!!  Mommy and Daddy on our fun, free date.  We used movie passes we got at the WWCC Silent Auction and a Mijo's Groupon.  I guess we paid for it.  Just not tonight.  It made that date that much more fun!!!

Water Water and Fireside Pies

Yesterday, we finally put together the water table.  Jackson LOVED it!!!  No surprise!  This boy loves WATER!!!

It was even more fun because we played before Daddy left for work!!!

We had to stop and watch the recycle truck!!!

Love this one!  He is rubbing his tummy!!!

Today, we went to the California Lane Park to play on their splash pad. And of course, Jackson LOVED it!!!  Daddy only had to work a half day, so he joined us which made it that much better!!!

On our way!!! Super excited!!!

Then, we got on the swings!

To end a great afternoon, Meema and PopPop offered to watch all their grandkids so all of us could have a date night!  Aaron and I took full advantage of this opportunity to go to downtown Fort Worth to have dinner at Fireside Pies.  If you haven't been, you must go!  Everything is so yummy! Our favorite is the homemade eggs noodles with butter and cheese.  Sounds kind of plain and boring, but they are heavenly.

At Fireside Pies, with our fabulous dessert- Fresh Peach Crisp

A great couple of days and the weekend just started!!! :)
