March Final Roundup

Where did the last week or two go?  Seriously!!!  I have every intention to blog a lot more but like most hobbies something else wins out like making dinner or folding laundry.

A couple of Saturdays ago I had dinner at Uncle Julio's with some girls I went to grad school with.  It was fun to catch up with a few of them!!!

Hopefully, Aaron doesn't kill me!!! This cracked me up!  It was a little cold outside and we were playing with J, so he decided to wear socks and flip flops.  Good look, Daddy!!! :)

It's been so pretty lately.  J and I play outside as much as we can on my days off.  Love my J!!!

Earlier last week I turned on Mickey Mouse and left the room to go get dressed and put my makeup on.  I came back in 20 minutes later and he was still sitting on the couch watching Mickey.  That's a first!!!  He now can sit through a whole 23 minute episode of Mickey.  Maybe not something to be super proud of but for this mama I consider it an accomplishment.  So many moms talk about how their kids sit and watch TV, but I have never experienced it.  Not that I plan to have him watch hours and hours, but I will take 23 minutes here or there, so I can get something done!!!

This weekend my mom and I drove to Tyler for a baby shower for Shelly and baby Allie Jean.  We had such a great time seeing such wonderful friends.  The Mullins Family is seriously one of my favorite families!!! :)

After being gone at the baby shower, I came home to find J watching an episode of Mickey before his nap.  He came and sat on the couch with me while I was on the computer and did this.  My heart melted!!!  He's such a sweet boy!!!

My parents joined us for dinner at The Flying Fish on Saturday night.  J loved sitting in the booth in his booster.  No melt downs!!! Thank goodness!!!  He had the best time looking out the window at the people walking by.

We had frozen yogurt after dinner on Saturday.  I love J's face in the pic with Aaron.  He looks like he doesn't like it, but he actually did!!!

On Sunday afternoon, we went and got a car wash.  Talk about cheap entertainment!!! J is so fascinated by the whole thing!!!  The first pic is him watching the car ahead of us getting their car wash.  It's rivoting stuff I tell you!!!

After the car wash, we stopped by Jimmy John's for subs and then were off to the park.  Despite being a little windy, it was a perfect evening.

We've had a great end to March and are looking forward to April and Easter!!!

Tomorrow and Wednesday I will be conducting the STAAR test to a group of four 8th graders in my office!!! 4 hours of silence and staring at kids taking tests!!! Sounds like fun!!!

Have a great week!!!

We've hit the twos...

I believe J is now officially a two year old.  Yes, we have had dabblings in the two department.  Trust me.  He can act very twoish when he wants to!!!  However, I think last Tuesday night we might have hit an all time high.  Or maybe I should say an all time low.  Aaron went to a Mavs game, so when I went to get J from my mom's after work, the three of us went out to dinner.  And this time we happened to put him in a booster since we were seated in a booth.  We have started doing this some.  No big deal, right?

Well, on this particular night, it didn't go so well.  Let's just say- we were that table with that screaming kid.  Yep.  That was us!!!  That table.  You know the one where pre-children you would look at the hostess and ask her to seat you in the other section.  That was us on Tuesday night.  In fact the lady behind us, actually moved and she was there before us.  How embarrassing!!!

Needless to say it wasn't J's shining moment.  And I did take him out, but none before the lady next to us moved.  I don't think I realized quite how bad it was until we got our bill and the table across the aisle from us paid for our tab.  Isn't that the sweetest?  They felt so bad for us.  They bought our meal.  I can honestly say I didn't get a good look at them.  My mom says when the whole screaming scene went down they were the only ones not to roll their eyes.  I guess they have been there done that and only felt sympathy and compassion.

Here's to hoping we don't have another one of those restaurant meltdowns for a very LONG time!!! I would love to hear any tips any parents have for tackling restaurants with a two year old!!! :)  What about any good reads on toddlers and discipline?  There are so many books out there on the subject I haven't a clue where to start!!!

Birthday Week

Birthday Week. Every year it is truly a week of celebration, and it has been my whole life.  Grandmother's (my mom's mom) birthday was March 16.  My dad's birthday is March 18, and mine is March 19.  So growing up the week of Spring Break (when it used to be the third week of March) was always birthday week.
Now that I am a part of the Chandler family, Tommy's (Aaron's brother) birthday is thrown into the mix on March 18th as well.

Birthday week started on Monday night with a celebration at Aaron's parents.  We celebrated Tommy's and my birthdays.

This is the only picture I took.  Being St. Paddy's Day, Ali had a 'green' food theme.  Notice the Irish nachos, spinach salad, green fluff salad, and limeade in a green cup.

Tuesday night we celebrated my dad's birthday with his own dinner and cake made by my mom.

Again, this is the only picture that was taken.
Dad's cake was homemade strawberry cake with strawberry icing.

Wednesday night my mom made dinner for me.  Only she made a homemade red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.  My favorite!!!

All in all it was a pretty wonderful birthday!!!  I spent the day with my boy doing what we do on most Wednesdays going to occupational therapy and having lunch.  We had Taco Bueno!  Another of my favorites!!!  Then, I got to spend dinner with Aaron, Jackson, my parents and my cousin, Jeremy.

Isn't he cute!!! He's pretty good company, too.

Thankful for another year.  I still can't believe I'm 33!!!  That's crazy!!!

Mary Kay Spring Favorites

Today I am linking up with one of my favorite bloggers, Kelly.  If you haven't been to her blog, check it out.  She is one of the sweetest, most genuine, Christian bloggers I read on a daily basis.  I am also linking up with the girls with Five on Friday.

I'll be honest.  I haven't been working my Mary Kay business.  I haven't had a whole lot of time, but I am very thankful for my sis-in-law and mom who continue to buy from me.

While I might not be going out and selling Mary Kay, I sure am buying it and using it!!!

Here are my new favorites for spring-

This is brand new.  If you have ever used a BB cream, this is MK's answer to it.  Essentially it is a moisturizer and foundation all in one.  I have used tinted moisturizers/BB creams for several years now because I don't like wearing heavy foundation.  I like the little bit of coverage this type of product gives.  You look finished and ready to go, but you face doesn't look caked on.  Because I have extremely dry skin, I still use a moisturizer underneath this, but you wouldn't have to.  That would be completely up to you.  I can say from my experience using this type of product that I am extremely impressed with MK's version.  I used Estee Lauder's BB cream for the last 2 to 3 years, and just after using this MK cc cream for 2 weeks I like it better.  I love the texture.

Mary Kay doesn't always have nail polish, so this is a limited edition product.  I ordered both colors- Carefree Coral and Lemon Parfait.  I have been wearing the Carefree Coral all week and LOVE it!!! It is a great color for spring!!!  It will add a nice pop to your overall look without being too bright.

MK at Play is our line of products at a lower price point.  It is supposedly targeted at the younger demographic- think teens and young adults.  I really like these crayons.  They are easy to throw in your lipstick pouch for quick use throughout the day.  I am loving our latest color- Coral Me Crazy.  Noticing a theme? :)  Yep, coral is the hot color!!! Again, it's a great spring/summer color.  I like that it's bright and fresh, but not smack you in the face over the top, if you know what I mean.

I LOVE this little tube!!! I have always had issues with my eye shadow staying put all day.  Well, not anymore!!! This white cream glides on your eyelids before you put on your eye makeup.  Like it says, it primes your eyelid for your "paint" or eye shadow.  It doesn't take much either, so this tube will last you for quite a while.

I think I talked about this when I first started selling Mary Kay back in November.  This is my absolute favorite product we sell!!!  You use this in the shower after you wash your face.  The grainy beads exfoliate your skin leaving your skin so smooth.  I use this every four to five days because I just love the feeling and look of my skin.  When you get out of the shower, apply some of the replenish cream before you do your normal skin routine.  I am telling once you try it you will LOVE it!!!

If you have any interest in ordering any of these products and need a MK beauty consultant, I would be happy to help you.  My Mary Kay website is here

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!!

Happy Friday!!!

So Long, Farewell...

auf Wiedersehen, good night
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight.

I love The Sound of Music!!! Don't you?  I think this line just about sums up my feeling about Spring Break ending.  I am sad to see it go.  On to the summer break countdown...Come on June 10th!!!

As for Spring Break, it was definitely memorable.  We started with two days of picnics, and in Texas like fashion it got cold!!!

Then on Wednesday, Mema, my dad's mom, passed away.  She was 92 and lived a good, long life.

I am so glad she got to meet Jackson.  She dearly loved him!!!

Friday night there was an amazing turnout of family and friends at her visitation.  Then on Saturday afternoon we celebrated her life with her funeral.  She would have been pleased with the number of people that came as well as the service.  It truly is one of the greatest blessings to be a part of such a wonderful church community.  It's during times like these that you really see what it means to be a brother and sister in Christ. I don't know how people in this world survive without their faith and their church family!

I wish it had read Helen Maxine Jackson Poplin.

Today, we had her burial.  It was a beautiful day despite being a little cold.

I think this Spring Break was a great reminder to really treasure every moment with the people you love.  I know I am horrible about thinking and looking forward to the next big thing- i.e. summer break. I saw this saying on a pillow in the window of our local Gene Allen's last weekend, and I just love it!!!

Have a great week!!!

Picnic Perfect

Our Spring Break has had a theme.
Beautiful weather + lunch = Picnic
The last two days we have eaten lunch outside, and it's been fun.  Believe it or not when I was a little girl, I did not enjoying eating my food outdoors.  If I were five, I would not have enjoyed my lunch the last two days.  Good thing I grew up and became a mom because I have a feeling I will be eating food outside a lot in the coming years.

Yesterday, RaRa and I got Sonic and went to Pantego Park.

Today the plan was to go to the Fort Worth Zoo.  Major mistake!!!  It was literally a zoo.  Since we were already in Fort Worth, we decided to go grab Subway and head to Trinity Park.  How sad that I have lived in the DFW area my whole life and never had been to Trinity Park!  It is really quite nice!  I already have plans to go back again on a Saturday this spring, so Aaron can go, too.

J had the best time looking at the turtles and ducks and walking over the bridge.

Tonight after dinner, we decided to go on another walk.  Only this time I suggested we walk to McDonalds and get this--
Yep.  A Shamrock shake!!!  All that walking made me hungry!!! ;)

J enjoyed a kiddie ice cream.
It was clap worthy!!!

A fun first few days of Spring Break enjoying the beautiful weather makes me ready for the real thing.  Come on flip flop weather!!!  I am ready for you!!!
