Birthday Weekend

This past weekend we continued celebrating Aaron's birthday.  Like I've said before, birthdays are big deals in our family.

On Saturday afternoon, my parents watched J, again!!! Yep.  They're amazing!!!

This gave Aaron and I sometime to do our own things.  I ran errands, and Aaron chose to go for a run.  The weather has been beautiful, so he decided to take advantage while little old me decided to go to Babies 'R Us and Target to get some more things for Baby Bennett.

I had made reservations at Bob's Chop and Steakhouse in downtown Fort Worth.  We had never been to this place before, but it was Aaron's choice.

I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was.

Birthday Boy!!!

Our amazing dessert- Peanut Butter Brownie Sundae!!!
It was too die for!!!

On Sunday after church, my mom had us over for lunch to celebrate Aaron's birthday as well.  She made him a delicious shrimp and rice dish with asparagus.   It was so good!!!  Then, for something different she went to Nothing Bundt Cakes and got Aaron a cake.  She got the cake of the month that had caramel and pecans in it.  Pretty appropriate seeing as Aaron's other favorite dessert flavor besides strawberries is caramel.

I love how Nothing Bundt cakes decorate their cakes!!!

 Blowing out the candles!!!

J is really getting into the whole birthday thing!!!  He loves blowing out candles.  We had some leftover cake last night, and he thought we needed more candles.  I guess he has a point.  It is a birthday cake.

We finished off our weekend with our Financial Peace University class at church.  My parent again watch J, so we can attend.  After our class, we headed back to my parents to get J.  My dad had gotten Subway sandwiches, so we stayed and ate.  And as usual, J cried when we had to leave.  He loves RaRa and GPa's.  What's not to love!!!  It's his Nirvana!!!

Aaron's Birthday

Aaron turned 35 on Thursday.
Birthdays are special days to me!!!  My mom has always made a big deal out of birthdays, so I naturally do that with my family, too.

I had Aaron pick his meal of choice.  No surprise he chose spaghetti and meatballs.  Aaron isn't much of a birthday cake kind of a guy.  He's more into strawberries and cream!!!

This is one of Aaron's favorite pies I make.  It's so easy and super delicious!!!

Aaron and I had a really nice dinner while J watched some Bob the Builder in the living room.  J had just had ice cream from Sonic with RaRa, so I knew better than to even attempt food.

Love my boys!!!

Happy Birthday Aaron!!!  We love you!!!

A Tribute to our Daddies

Today is Fathers Day, so it seemed appropriate to highlight the great dads in our lives.

My dad aka GPa or BaBa

I have been blessed with a truly great dad.  He is not only a great Christian man but a pretty fun guy, too.  How many 60+ year olds do you know that still snow ski and enjoy playing sports?  I think this is just one of the many reasons J loves to play with GPa.  He already plans to teach J how to play golf as well as snow ski. It also doesn't hurt that he's not afraid to change a dirty diaper!!! LOL

Daddy also know as Daddy Doo

Where would we be with out Daddy?  Aaron is a great daddy to our little J.  They play inside.  They play outside.  J loves to play with Daddy.  Daddy also adds balance to my overprotective ways.  When I have a tendency to worry too much about little things, Aaron reminds me that it will probably be good for him to rough it a little.

Aaron's Dad- Pop Pop
Aaron's Granddad- GG
Sadly, the only pic I have of Pop Pop and GG with J.  This is from Friday night when we celebrated Fathers Day with the Chandler family.  Both Pop Pop and GG are great fathers and grandfathers.  We also can't forget Uncle Tony who is the daddy to J's cousins, Will, Brooke and Chloe.

Happy Fathers Day to all the special daddies out there!
We're especially proud of ours!!!

At the Zoo with Daddy

On Monday, Aaron had the day off, so we took full advantage.  After sleeping in until 8:30!!!  Thank you, J!  We loaded up and headed to the zoo.  My parents got us zoo passes, so it makes going to the zoo for just a couple of hours very doable and inexpensive.

As we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed a bus unloading with kids that looked to be our nephew's age.  What are the odds, right?  His grade was having their field trip that day and on his birthday.  What a fun way to spend your birthday!  Plus, we got to see him!

Daddy and J (he wasn't too pleased with this pic)

Their is an exhibit called Gigantabugs right now.  I took pics of the grasshopper and fly.

J looking at the pretty flamingos.

 So sweet!

Yay!!! The "roars" were out!!!  And boy did he give a show and live up to J's name!

 Looking at the "roar"

Yep.  J gets distracted at times because he wants to push the stroller.

Not the best pic, but the only one we got of all three of us.

We ended up at my favorite place for lunch, McKinley's.  J ate really well!!!  Shocking, I know!  So he really enjoyed his "duh" (duck) iced cookie.

It was truly a perfect way to end a wonderful Easter weekend!!!

Jackson Meets Baby Lugo

Audrey and Eddie had their baby yesterday, and it was a boy!!! How cool that they waited to find out!  Because he was born so late yesterday, we decided to go up for a few minutes tonight after dinner.
I would tell you his name, but they haven't decided yet.  They were throwing some names around as we were there, but still no definite.  I can't wait to find out what they decide on.  I guess we'll know tomorrow since he has to have a name before they can leave the hospital.
Can I just say that I am always so impressed with how great most moms look after having a baby? Audrey was no exception.  She looked fabulous and perfectly calm!!!  I didn't take her picture, but you'll just have to trust me that she looked great.
I did however get pictures of J and Aaron with the baby.

J was so great!!! He laughed, pointed, and waved at the baby.  He was so excited!!! He kept wanting to look at him.  My favorite was that he kept saying "baby" over and over.  When I would nod and repeat "baby," a couple times he pointed to himself.  It cracked me up because if you know J, he refers to himself as baby.  He just didn't want us to forget that he is still the baby too.

March Final Roundup

Where did the last week or two go?  Seriously!!!  I have every intention to blog a lot more but like most hobbies something else wins out like making dinner or folding laundry.

A couple of Saturdays ago I had dinner at Uncle Julio's with some girls I went to grad school with.  It was fun to catch up with a few of them!!!

Hopefully, Aaron doesn't kill me!!! This cracked me up!  It was a little cold outside and we were playing with J, so he decided to wear socks and flip flops.  Good look, Daddy!!! :)

It's been so pretty lately.  J and I play outside as much as we can on my days off.  Love my J!!!

Earlier last week I turned on Mickey Mouse and left the room to go get dressed and put my makeup on.  I came back in 20 minutes later and he was still sitting on the couch watching Mickey.  That's a first!!!  He now can sit through a whole 23 minute episode of Mickey.  Maybe not something to be super proud of but for this mama I consider it an accomplishment.  So many moms talk about how their kids sit and watch TV, but I have never experienced it.  Not that I plan to have him watch hours and hours, but I will take 23 minutes here or there, so I can get something done!!!

This weekend my mom and I drove to Tyler for a baby shower for Shelly and baby Allie Jean.  We had such a great time seeing such wonderful friends.  The Mullins Family is seriously one of my favorite families!!! :)

After being gone at the baby shower, I came home to find J watching an episode of Mickey before his nap.  He came and sat on the couch with me while I was on the computer and did this.  My heart melted!!!  He's such a sweet boy!!!

My parents joined us for dinner at The Flying Fish on Saturday night.  J loved sitting in the booth in his booster.  No melt downs!!! Thank goodness!!!  He had the best time looking out the window at the people walking by.

We had frozen yogurt after dinner on Saturday.  I love J's face in the pic with Aaron.  He looks like he doesn't like it, but he actually did!!!

On Sunday afternoon, we went and got a car wash.  Talk about cheap entertainment!!! J is so fascinated by the whole thing!!!  The first pic is him watching the car ahead of us getting their car wash.  It's rivoting stuff I tell you!!!

After the car wash, we stopped by Jimmy John's for subs and then were off to the park.  Despite being a little windy, it was a perfect evening.

We've had a great end to March and are looking forward to April and Easter!!!

Tomorrow and Wednesday I will be conducting the STAAR test to a group of four 8th graders in my office!!! 4 hours of silence and staring at kids taking tests!!! Sounds like fun!!!

Have a great week!!!
