We've hit the twos...

I believe J is now officially a two year old.  Yes, we have had dabblings in the two department.  Trust me.  He can act very twoish when he wants to!!!  However, I think last Tuesday night we might have hit an all time high.  Or maybe I should say an all time low.  Aaron went to a Mavs game, so when I went to get J from my mom's after work, the three of us went out to dinner.  And this time we happened to put him in a booster since we were seated in a booth.  We have started doing this some.  No big deal, right?

Well, on this particular night, it didn't go so well.  Let's just say- we were that table with that screaming kid.  Yep.  That was us!!!  That table.  You know the one where pre-children you would look at the hostess and ask her to seat you in the other section.  That was us on Tuesday night.  In fact the lady behind us, actually moved and she was there before us.  How embarrassing!!!

Needless to say it wasn't J's shining moment.  And I did take him out, but none before the lady next to us moved.  I don't think I realized quite how bad it was until we got our bill and the table across the aisle from us paid for our tab.  Isn't that the sweetest?  They felt so bad for us.  They bought our meal.  I can honestly say I didn't get a good look at them.  My mom says when the whole screaming scene went down they were the only ones not to roll their eyes.  I guess they have been there done that and only felt sympathy and compassion.

Here's to hoping we don't have another one of those restaurant meltdowns for a very LONG time!!! I would love to hear any tips any parents have for tackling restaurants with a two year old!!! :)  What about any good reads on toddlers and discipline?  There are so many books out there on the subject I haven't a clue where to start!!!

  2. We have had those meals and ours was never paid for. Very nice. I have no suggestions on books because I just wing it. You might try having certain toys, boys, games that are only for restaurants. Consider asking for the kids meal ahead of your meals if it will take a while for yours. Then your child has something to do while they wait. Most of all just do your best to handle each situation as best you can and know that these things happen to all of us. Good luck!

  4. Oh, girl! I feel your pain. I'm not in any position to offer advice seeing how Harper makes me laugh every time I try to discipline her. I'm in trouble! How incredibly sweet of those people to pay your tab. Just think, one of these days, you'll get to pay it forward after enjoying a peaceful dinner with your family. ;)
