Picnic Perfect

Our Spring Break has had a theme.
Beautiful weather + lunch = Picnic
The last two days we have eaten lunch outside, and it's been fun.  Believe it or not when I was a little girl, I did not enjoying eating my food outdoors.  If I were five, I would not have enjoyed my lunch the last two days.  Good thing I grew up and became a mom because I have a feeling I will be eating food outside a lot in the coming years.

Yesterday, RaRa and I got Sonic and went to Pantego Park.

Today the plan was to go to the Fort Worth Zoo.  Major mistake!!!  It was literally a zoo.  Since we were already in Fort Worth, we decided to go grab Subway and head to Trinity Park.  How sad that I have lived in the DFW area my whole life and never had been to Trinity Park!  It is really quite nice!  I already have plans to go back again on a Saturday this spring, so Aaron can go, too.

J had the best time looking at the turtles and ducks and walking over the bridge.

Tonight after dinner, we decided to go on another walk.  Only this time I suggested we walk to McDonalds and get this--
Yep.  A Shamrock shake!!!  All that walking made me hungry!!! ;)

J enjoyed a kiddie ice cream.
It was clap worthy!!!

A fun first few days of Spring Break enjoying the beautiful weather makes me ready for the real thing.  Come on flip flop weather!!!  I am ready for you!!!

Date Night + Baby Shower = Busy Weekend

We had a great weekend!!!

Friday night we celebrated our anniversary with sushi and frozen yogurt.

Saturday we slept a little later than usual because J was at my parents.  After working in the garage a little bit, we met up with my parents for lunch and to get J.
Then, my mom and I were off to decorate for the Audrey's baby shower the next day.  Plans went awry because someone else was using the fellowship hall for a birthday party. We decided to make the most of it , so I came home to cut lots of crepe paper into 7 foot strips.  Why? Because it takes a lot of crepe paper to create this--

We headed back up to the church at 6:30 (after the birthday party) with tons of crepe paper streamers and blown up balloons.  You wouldn't realize it, but it took 2 hours to make the corner look like that.  That's a lot of crepe paper!!!  We headed home at 8:30, which was actually 9:30 because of Daylights Saving Time.

Then, we spent our Sunday afternoon hosting the church baby shower for Audrey, Aaron's cousin.  It was a great shower!!!  Baby Lugo got some great stuff!!!  I am so excited to see if it will be a boy or girl.

My eyes were closed.  Ooops!!!

To end our Sunday, we got Jimmy John's subs, ate outside, and went on a walk.  Not a bad way to end a weekend!!!

Especially when you get to spend time with this little cutie!!!

Five on Friday

We're to the end of yet another week, and I am so excited.  I love Fridays normally, but this Friday is even better than your average Friday.  Why? Because next week is Spring Break!!!  When you work in education, you come back from Christmas Break and always think...if I can just make it to Spring Break.

Here's a recap of our week-

-ONE-

On Monday, we celebrated 7 years of marriage.  Because it was a Monday, we didn't have anything planned, but as luck would have it- Aaron had a Snow Day.  I don't usually work on Mondays, so we had a nice family day because there was really no ice.  We had lunch with my parents, got Starbucks, and had dinner with Aaron's family. It was an all around Family Day!!! Not a bad way to spend an anniversary!!!

-TWO-

On Wednesday, we finally had our appointment for Jackson with the neurologist.  We have been thinking about this appointment since the end of November.  The day finally arrived, and thankfully everything appears to be going great for our little man.  J's neurologist with Cook's Childrens was the best!!! After talking to us and going through J's developmental history, he sees no need to go through a battery of tests- MRI, blood, urine, etc.- for us to only find out there is nothing out of the ordinary.  His doctor wants us to keep going to his therapies- speech, OT, PT, and we will go back in 6 months for a re-check to make sure he is still progressing.  I will tell you for Aaron and I that was a huge burden lifted when we heard this from the doctor.  A BIG PRAISE God for this one!!!

-THREE-

I just got my second big order from Mary Kay this week.  I had so much fun on Tuesday night going through and organizing the new products I got.  I ordered some of the Spring Collection that is so bright and fresh.  I will have to do a post next week on specific products I am liking.  Putting some of the fun eye colors and lip sticks on, make me all the more ready for spring to finally arrive.

-FOUR-

Tonight my parents are keeping J overnight for us, so we can celebrate our anniversary.  We are excited for a dinner out and sleeping in a bit on Saturday.  Not a bad way to kick off Spring Break!!!

-FIVE-

Just in case you didn't catch it the first time, I am officially on Spring Break at about 1 pm today.  While I might not be going to the beach, I will be spending my week with some of my favorite people.

Happy Friday!!!

Zoo, Birthday Parties, and Girls Night

What a great weekend!!!  After last week, I was in need of a fun weekend.  As I write this, I am trying not to stress about a work email I just read.  I should really be putting in online course requests instead of doing this. But in typical fashion I am putting it off for later tonight.

It started with having Friday off.  Woohoo!!! I usually work a half day on Fridays, so I savored having the entire day to spend with my boy.

I called my mom on Thursday night to tell her J and I were going to the zoo to see if she wanted to join us.  Of course, she rearranged her schedule to come with us.  We had the best time!!!

J got to see the "mun" i.e. monkeys

I love this one!!! This little girl came up and was invading J's space.
He wasn't too sure about that!!!

Note: the zoo stroller!!! Yes! I forgot my stroller.  Duh!

Pointing at the "roars" i.e. lions

One of my favs of the day!!! J loves his RaRa!!!

 Lunch at my favorite- McKinley's

You can't eat at McKinley's without a cookie!

After all the zoo fun, J took a good nap, which allowed me to get some cleaning done.  When he got up, I decided to vacuum.

This is J peeking around the corner as I vacuum the hall.
J has a love/hate relationship with the vacuum cleaner. :)

On Saturday, we ran errands before back to back birthday parties in the afternoon.

One of our stops was the mall to get J new tennis shoes since his foot is growing, growing, growing.
We ate at the food court and then--

J went on the carousel for the first time.  He LOVED it sooooo much!!! He squealed with delight the entire time!!!

Then it was time for birthday party fun!!!
First up-- Brooke's Frozen B-day Party

We live three streets from the other Chandlers so we walked.

It was a fun party for Ms. Brooke!!! Can't believe she's 6!!!  She was born on our first wedding anniversary- March 3, 2008.  What are the odds?

After a quick nap for J, we headed to our second party for Zeke and Caitlyn.  Their moms did a combo pirates and princesses party and had a fun bounce house.

J was unsure of the bouncy thing at first but he loved going down the slide with Daddy!!!

I left my boys at the kids' b-day party to head to another birthday celebration for Katy.  She is Aaron's cousin so my cousin-in-law.  All the girl cousins/cousins-in-law minus Holly went out to dinner.  It was a fun girls night out!!!  We don't get together often enough, so it was fun to catch up.

Of course in Texas fashion, we went from the 70's and flip flops on Friday/Saturday to the 30's and sleeting today.  We are recouping this afternoon after church.  We are huddled in for the day with the heater blasting, sweatpants, and fuzzy socks.

Hope you had a great weekend, too!!!
